Breaking up is hard to do . . .

In this week's issue of ENCOUNTER, the article "The Cleanup After a Breakup" shared tips on how to get over the rough times when a dating relationship has ended. At the end of the article, the author lists some Scriptures that can be encouraging.

Have you had to survive a breakup? If so, how did you deal with the sadness? What Scriptures gave you comfort during that sad time?

Please leave a comment and share your story.

Me and my boyfriend of 1 year and 8 months just broke up on the 20th of September. He confronted me ahead of time and said things weren't quite the same, but that he still loved me. We broke anyway, but it wasn't bitter. Right now, we still love each other, but we need space to make sure we're right for each other on a more serious level. The main verses that help me are the vows from 1 Corinthians. It helps me to know that no matter how hard us being apart is, if what we feel is real, then this time apart is worth it, and that keeps me going.
The love I have for him is "always ready to excuse, to trust, to hope, and to endure whatever comes." And I also know that no matter what happens, my love for him will not come to an end, though it may change.

Katrina,

It is good the you are recognizing that you need some time apart and are still on good terms with your ex.
Take this time to concentrate on yourself and school. Taking care of yourself first is always a good idea.

If the relationship works out then you will be a better person. If it does not you will have hopefully grown and will be able to move on to something new and not look back.

That's a tough situation to be in--thanks for sharing! I'm so glad to see that you're examining your feelings by Biblical standards. And you're right, if it's the right thing, it will work out and God will bring you guys back together. Keep trusting Him!!
